North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the sea near the east coast of the Korean peninsula, as confirmed by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
The Japanese Coast Guard, referencing the Ministry of Defense, reported that the missile, presumed to be ballistic in nature, traveled approximately 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) before descending into the sea.
The JCS indicated that the missile, which was fired from the Pyongyang region at about 2:55 p.m. local time on Sunday, is thought to be of intermediate range.
Military forces from South Korea, the United States, and Japan are collaboratively examining the details of this missile launch. Meanwhile, the South Korean military remains on high alert, continuously exchanging information about North Korea’s missile activities with its American and Japanese counterparts.
