On Friday, Hezbollah launched an attack on Israeli soldiers stationed near the al-Raheb post in northern Israel, coinciding with Israeli airstrikes on the southern Lebanese town of Aita al-Shaab. This followed a series of 11 attacks by Hezbollah on Thursday targeting northern Israel and the disputed areas of Shebaa Farms and Kfarshouba hills, marking a sharp escalation in cross-border hostilities.
Regional tensions heightened further with reports from Iranian media of explosions near Isfahan and claims from U.S. media that Israel had conducted retaliatory strikes against Iran, its long-standing adversary.
The escalation at the Lebanese border was fueled by a recent Hezbollah operation that injured 14 Israeli soldiers. Over the past days, Hezbollah has increased its use of explosive drones, while Israel has expanded its airstrikes into deeper Lebanese territory, specifically targeting Hezbollah commanders.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with at least 370 people reported dead in Lebanon, predominantly Hezbollah fighters, and at least 70 civilians, as per an AFP tally. In Israel, the conflict has claimed the lives of 10 soldiers and eight civilians near the northern border.
