On Friday, Hezbollah launched an attack targeting Israeli soldiers near the Hunin Castle in Margaliot and the Ma’ale Golani post. This was accompanied by Israeli artillery barrages on several border towns, including the southern areas of Houla, Kfarkila, Mays al-Jabal, and Wadi Hamoul. Additionally, Israeli warplanes conducted extensive airstrikes over al-Khiam the previous night.
Hezbollah disclosed that they used the Falaq-1, an unguided Iranian-made surface-to-surface missile, to target the Ma’ale Golani post. This marks the first use of these missiles since the beginning of the war. The day before, Hezbollah had struck three Israeli targets, including air defense systems and posts in northern Israel, with two suicide drones. In retaliation, Israeli drones executed airstrikes deep within Lebanon.
The ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israel, which began on October 7, has led to near-daily exchanges of fire along the Lebanese-Israeli border. The toll has been heavy: at least 202 individuals have perished in South Lebanon, 147 of whom were members of Hezbollah. Civilian casualties include at least 26 individuals, among them three journalists and two rescuers, as well as a Lebanese soldier.
The hostilities have forced over 83,000 Lebanese residents to flee their homes, as reported by the International Organization for Migration. Meanwhile, on the Israeli side, the conflict has claimed the lives of 15 people in the northern border region, including nine soldiers and six civilians.
