Israelโs National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, recently expressed on the social media platform X his advocacy for the permanent occupation of the Gaza Strip. Criticizing a US-supported mediation effort, Ben-Gvir argued that Hamas needs to be decisively defeated until it completely capitulates.
He proposed halting all humanitarian aid and fuel transfers to Gaza until Hamas releases all captives. Additionally, he suggested that Israel should facilitate immigration to and permanently occupy Gaza to ensure control over the territory.
In a separate statement to Israelโs Channel 14, Ben-Gvir opposed Israelโs participation in ceasefire negotiations scheduled for Thursday, labeling it a grave error. He commended the effectiveness of the Israeli militaryโs actions in Gaza and questioned the rationale behind engaging in negotiations. Ben-Gvir expressed a firm stance against settling for a weak agreement and voiced his belief in Israelโs imminent victory in the conflict.
