Needing at least a draw at home against Augsburg, Bayer secured the championship with a 2-1 victory, becoming the first team in the German top flight to win the Bundesliga title without a single loss throughout the season.

Robert Andrich doubled the advantage before the 30th minute, putting Bayer in a comfortable position.
