Jebran Bassil, the leader of the Free Patriotic Movement, stated in an interview on RT Arabic that the resolution of the conflict in Lebanon will not be determined by Hezbollah but by Israel and Hamas, who are the actual parties in negotiation.
Bassil expressed his disagreement with Hezbollah’s view that their involvement is beneficial for Gaza, asserting that Lebanon gains nothing from the conflict except daily destruction and devastation. He emphasized that Lebanon’s rights could have been addressed through diplomatic channels rather than war.
Furthermore, Bassil highlighted that any potential Israeli aggression against Lebanon would result in Israel’s defeat. He clarified the FPM’s position regarding the liberation of Jerusalem, stating it should not concern Hezbollah, especially since Lebanon’s role in this matter was not specified in the 2006 memorandum of understanding between the two groups.
