Are you interested in owning Alex Jones’ conspiracy theory platform, Infowars? The parent company, Free Speech Systems, is now officially for sale after a Texas bankruptcy judge approved the process on Tuesday.
Up for auction on November 13 will be everything associated with Infowars, including its domain, social media accounts, subscriber lists, production equipment, and studio setup, according to the auction house overseeing the sale.
The money raised, which could total millions, will go toward the $1.5 billion Jones owes to the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting victims. Jones filed for personal bankruptcy after being ordered to pay this massive sum for spreading false conspiracy theories about the 2012 massacre, which claimed 26 lives.
As the sole owner of Free Speech Systems, Jones’ company is now part of his personal bankruptcy liquidation and has been placed under the control of a court-appointed trustee, who is organizing the sale.
Anyone can bid on Infowars, including its dietary supplement business, and use the assets for any purpose, provided they meet the qualification requirements.
“This transparent sale process will allow any party to participate and purchase the assets, regardless of intended use, as long as they comply with the terms and provide proof of financial capability,” stated ThreeSixty Asset Advisors, the firm managing the sale.
Christopher Mattei, an attorney representing several Sandy Hook families in Connecticut, called the judge’s decision a “significant step forward” in achieving fair distribution of Free Speech Systems’ assets to the families.
Mattei emphasized that the auction will mean Jones no longer controls the company he built, bringing the families closer to holding him accountable for the damage he caused.
Jones has hinted that an ally could potentially buy Infowars, which wouldn’t stop him from continuing to broadcast. However, he would still be responsible for paying off the debt owed to the Sandy Hook families with any earnings from future work.
There is no legal barrier preventing Jones from continuing to speak about the Sandy Hook massacre or the families involved. Jones, who now acknowledges the massacre occurred, claims he is being unfairly targeted by the government. He would only be silenced through a separate settlement with the families.
“There are patriots out there that I work with,” Jones said on his Friday show, without naming any specific potential buyers.
Another buyer could also purchase Infowars to prevent its use for spreading harmful misinformation and conspiracy theories.
Additionally, the court-appointed trustee hinted at plans to liquidate Jones’ other intellectual properties, including his account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where he has 2.8 million followers.
Even if all of Jones’ intellectual property is sold along with Infowars, it’s unlikely to significantly reduce the total he owes the Sandy Hook families.
For now, Jones has pledged to keep broadcasting until Infowars is sold, urging his followers to continue buying his products.
“I am literally running on empty,” Jones said during Friday’s show.
