BEIRUT/SFARAIH: The fifth and final fugitive who escaped from police custody into south Lebanon’s Jezzine pine forest Sunday has been arrested, the state-run National News Agency reported.
They had escaped from the local police station in the village of Sfaraih through a bathroom window and fled into the forest, security sources told The Daily Star.
While a Lebanese Army unit and an Internal Security Forces patrol arrested the first four detainees earlier in the day, the fifth remained at large until roughly 8 p.m.
Two of the detainees were Lebanese nationals, two were Syrian and one was Palestinian. They had been arrested for various crimes, including drug trafficking, the sources said.
