Three children injured in school bus accident in Sidon

SIDON, Lebanon: Twenty students survived a car accident in Sidon Wednesday after a bus they were riding in collided with a forklift truck.

The truck was transporting plasterboards to a warehouse when it crashed into the schoolbus at a roundabout in Sidon’s city center. The bus was transporting 20 school children, aged 11 to 13 years old, the bus driver told The Daily Star.

The Red Cross immediately arrived to the scene and transported three injured students, Sumaya Maraae, Mohammed Saria, and Ibtisam Sangar to Sidon’s Labib Hospital.

“I saw my friend in pain and screaming after the accident. I also saw a girl bleeding from her hand,” one of the students, Mustafa Aaitour said.

The student’s parents were also notified and arrived to the scene of the accident.
