Sean “Diddy” Combs is the subject of a forthcoming docuseries produced by 50 Cent, which is set to air on Netflix. The series will delve into allegations against Combs including sex trafficking, racketeering, sexual assault, and violent abuse. Currently in production, the series aims to provide a comprehensive look at these serious accusations spanning several decades.
50 Cent, the creative force behind the project, spoke to Variety about the docuseries’ purpose, emphasizing its focus on the human stories behind the headlines and its dedication to presenting nuanced perspectives. He highlighted the importance of not letting Combs’ story overshadow the broader contributions of hip-hop culture, despite the disturbing nature of the allegations.
The documentary is a collaboration involving 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & Television, Alexandria Stapleton of House of Nonfiction, and Texas Crew Productions.
The announcement of this documentary followed lawsuits filed against Combs by four women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who settled their dispute out of court. A specific incident shared by 50 Cent on the social media platform X features rapper Mark Curry alleging that Combs spiked champagne at his parties.
50 Cent expressed his intention for the documentary to support sexual assault victims and plans to donate the profits toward this cause.
Regarding Combs’ current legal situation, he has been arrested in New York on charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking through force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody after being denied bail twice.
Further complicating matters, another woman recently accused Combs and his former bodyguard of drugging, raping, and filming her at one of his properties when she was 25.
