A taste of paradise in Tahiti via Casino du Liban

BEIRUT: The zest of the sun, the taste of paradise, a bounty of dreams? If it all sounds like faraway fantasy, Casino du Liban attempted to bridge the distance Wednesday night with "Rhythms and Mysteries of Tahiti: The Secret Dances of the Pacific."

A self-described magical and spectacular affair, the show made late artist Paul Gauguin, renowned for his own Tahitian fantasies, seem outdated and old hat by comparison. "Tahiti" features contemporary choreography and characters like "Crazy Bambou." The show continues through January 8.
