BYBLOS: The very first edition of the Lebanese Poker Championship was launched with a dazzling extravaganza at one of Lebanon’s most exclusive beach clubs, Byblos’ Edde Sands, on July 22. The festivities were followed by nerve-wrecking tense days at the card table in the glamorous surroundings of the Casino du Liban. Nabil Matta, the eventual winner, bagged the kingly sum of $606,000. Among the revelers at Edde Sands were Joe Hachem, the Lebanese-Australian winner of the World Series of Poker in 2005, as well as Suheil and Sara Nassar, and Nadine and Samir Halabi.
