Eight Lebanese women on Forbes ‘power businesswomen’ ranking

BEIRUT: Eight Lebanese women have made it to the top 100 “power businesswomen” list ranked by the Forbes Middle East magazine.

The highest-ranking Lebanese woman was Elissar Farah Antonios at No. 26. She is the CEO of Citibank in the UAE, Levant and Iraq and has been working in the banking sector for more than 29 years.

According to Forbes, she led Citibank to generate combined revenues of $720 million from the region.

The regional business and financial magazine selected the top 100 businesswomen based on “the size of the businesses that these women head, their accomplishments over the last year, the initiatives they champion and their overall work experience.”

Senior Vice President of the Fattal Group, Caroline Fattal Fakhoury, ranked at 39, French-Lebanese managing director of pharmaceuticals company Sanofi Egypt and Sudan, Christelle Saghbini, at 45 and Senior Partner at Boston Consulting Group, Leila Hoteit, at 52.

Ingie Chalhoub, the CEO of the Etoile Group, was at 71, Randa al-Assaad, CEO of Arif and Bintoak Consulting Architects and Engineers, at 76 and Farah Foustok, the Middle East CEO of Lazard Gulf Limited, at 79.

The CEO of Gezairi Transport, Mona Bawarshi, ranked at No. 100.

First place overall was awarded to Raja Easa al-Gurg, the Emirati managing director of the Easa Saleh al-Gurg Group.
